Circus Kazino

'Circus Kazino' is een woordloos mobiel of vast straattheater over onze drang om snelheid en succes te meten.

In a world where everything must go faster, only a few objects dare to compete in a race that leads nowhere. They don't collide, they don't hurry, they don't lose.

Beneath their shells hides something mechanical, something ordinary: measuring tapes as snails, exploring their own length, their own progress. They remind us that slowness has its own beauty, and that standing still can sometimes be a form of moving forward. 

Onder hun pantser schuilt iets alledaags. Ze herinneren ons eraan dat traagheid ook schoonheid kent, dat stilstaan soms vooruitgang is.

A dapper figure appears in the square with a table, a start line, a crackling loudspeaker with stirring music. 
No words are spoken.

Op het plein verschijnt een snuisterend figuur met een tafel.

A few spectators take their seats and place a bet. Laughter, excitement, who will win?

"bets please!"  "rien ne va plus!" The starting signal!

Enkele toeschouwers nemen plaats op een stoeltje en sluiten een weddenschap af.

Gelach, spanning — wie zal winnen? 

Time slows down, the music fades. The table becomes a landscape of waiting.

Er ontvouwt zich een trager, poëtisch universum. De voorwerpen komen tot leven. Een boormachine verraadt snelheid, maar de voorwerpen bewegen bedachtzaam richting eindlijn.

De muziek kraakt. De tafel wordt een landschap van wachten.

Perhaps that is the real victory: the moment when no one wants to move forward anymore. A snail’s pace.
 A smile.
The award ceremony.

Na de finish blijft een stilte hangen — vol adem, vol ruimte.

Misschien is dát de echte overwinning: het moment waarop niemand meer vooruit wil.
